Kairi Sane Makes Pro Wrestling Return During Stardom Event

By | February 18, 2022

Kairi Sane was one of the top international talents during her short, yet impactful, stint in the WWE. Sane had a great run in Triple H’s NXT before she was called up to the main roster in 2019. Now she is back in the ring, but it’s not for WWE.

The former NXT Women’s Champion returned to Japan at the height of the pandemic in 2020 to be with her new husband. She worked as a WWE ambassador and trainer in her native country until December 2021.

Sane made her return to professional wrestling when she showed up for her home promotion Stardom Friday. Sane was revealed as the mystery signing and would compete at the promotion’s upcoming shows at Ryogoku Kokugikan next month.

Sane won’t be using her old Kairi Hojo name in the promotion and instead will be referred to simply as KAIRI. The promotion announced her return at a press conference.

Stardom wrestlers Unagi Sayaka and Tam Nakano interrupted the former WWE star as she was speaking at the press conference. KAIRI proposed a tag team match and said she wanted to tag with Mayu Iwatani.
