Keith Lee made an impact the moment he stepped inside the ring on Dynamite earlier this month. Lee defeated Isiah Kassidy in the first round of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. The victory landed him one of the six spots in the upcoming bout at Revolution.
The 37-year-old recently sat down with Busted Open Radio to talk about his reaction to WWE handing him his release papers. He revealed he never felt stressed about the situation. To the contrary, he was extremely calm and was confident of his abilities.
“I think that when it happened, I was extremely calm. I don’t think that it was because I had any sort of plan. It was more so that I had a lot of confidence, and even with sudden changes occurring and things of that sort, I was confident that one way or another, I would figure out what I needed to do to move forward and continue doing what I love to do.”
The Limitless One’s debut was kept a closely guarded secret and AEW President and CEO Tony Khan himself went to great lengths to make room for the big surprise. The details of his contract have yet to be revealed, but it seems that Lee has signed a multi-year contract with the promotion.
Prior to signing with AEW, Lee worked for rival promotion WWE, where he competed on Monday Night RAW under the ring name Keith “Bearcat” Lee. While Lee had a dominant run in NXT, his main roster callup was largely underwhelming. He was let go by the WWE last year.
