Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes have been locked in a heated feud for weeks, and it will finally come to a head at the Royal Rumble next week. Before Saturday Night’s Main Event tonight, Owens had a lot to say and even issued a warning to Shawn Michaels.
Kevin Owens took to Twitter and uploaded a video of himself in his car, where he talked about what happened during the January 24 episode of SmackDown and sent a message to Shawn Michaels before Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Owens said the night was going well until Cody Rhodes once again made something that wasn’t about him, about him. Still, Owens felt things went great overall, especially since he defeated Jimmy Uso. However, he also pointed out that Uso tried to do the same thing—make something that wasn’t about him, about him.
“Last night was a good night for me—until Cody Rhodes once again made something that wasn’t about him, about him. But it’s okay. Up until that point, everything went great.
I beat Jimmy Uso, who, by the way, also tried to come out and make something that was not about him, about him.”
Looking ahead to tonight, Owens talked about the contract signing for the ladder match at the Royal Rumble with Shawn Michaels. He called Michaels a hometown favorite in San Antonio, the king of the ladder match, and one of his biggest idols. Owens said Michaels was the reason he wanted to become a pro wrestler and that he was excited to share the ring with him.
However, after what happened with Matthew McConaughey the night before, Owens warned that he hopes Michaels doesn’t try to make the moment about himself—because when that happens, things don’t go well.
“Tonight, we have the contract signing for the ladder match at the Royal Rumble with none other than the hometown boy, Shawn Michaels. That’s a big deal in San Antonio—the king of the ladder match, too. One of my absolute idols and the man responsible for me ever wanting to become a pro wrestler in the first place. So, I’m very excited to share the ring with him.
But you know what? After last night and what happened with Matthew McConaughey, I hope Shawn Michaels doesn’t make something that’s not about him, about him—because we know what happens when things go that way.”
Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens will sign the contract for their WWE Championship Ladder Match during Saturday Night’s Main Event and Shawn Michaels will be on hand during the contract signing as well. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see whether Kevin Owens will end up putting his hands on the Heartbreak Kid, as anything could happen.
Will Kevin Owens end up attacking Shawn Michaels, or will Cody Rhodes step in to prevent things from getting out of hand? How do you see this feud playing out at the Royal Rumble? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
