Lio Rush Announces Retirement From Pro Wrestling

By | June 8, 2021

Lio Rush surprised AEW fans at Double or Nothing as the mystery entry in the Casino Battle Royale match. Many fans were forming dream matches for Rush, but he remained under NJPW contract. Now he is retired.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion logged onto social media to announce that he is retiring from in-ring competition. He cited an undisclosed arm injury that he suffered at Double or Nothing as what caused this decision. His injury was so bad that he couldn’t pick up his newborn child.

Rush thanked everyone for a crazy ride through the last 7 years, but his time in pro wrestling is apparently over.

It’s been a crazy ride, but it’s time to get off and do what truly makes me happy.

Lio Rush said that he will have to fulfill his contractual obligations with NJPW once he is healed. Other than that, he is done with pro wrestling at this point.

There have been other moments when Lio Rush announce his retirement from pro wrestling. He went through that phase after his WWE release. We’ll have to see if this sticks, but he sounded serious about this announcement.
