John Cena‘s name is all over Hollywood these days. His acclaimed role in The Suicide Squad landed him a spin-off Peacemaker TV series. He’s got a political thriller coming up. He’s done comedies. Now, we know just how in demand Cena is all over the world.

The upcoming Cena-led “Freelance” has been marketed around the world for distribution. AGC international recently locked up deals for the picture to be screened in several international markets. Deadline first reported the news, where the impressive list of international markets was shared. Crystal Bourbeau, who oversaw the deals, made a brief statement about the excitement for the picture.

Freelance was a major success at AFM and we’re delighted to be able to bring another major commercial film to our numerous independent distribution partners around the world.”

The deal will see the film released nearly worldwide. Negotiations are ongoing for the few territories that haven’t had a distributor pick up the movie. It appears that John Cena has established himself as a legitimate worldwide box office draw in the vein of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Principal photography on the movie is set to begin in early 2022. The shoot will take place in Colombia. The film tells the story of an Army Ranger with a boring life who takes a dangerous security assignment with a journalist. They get caught in a coup and are forced to fight to escape the country alive.

John Cena took the leap from the world of professional wrestling and became a global superstar. From music to movies, commercials to personal appearances, The Champ is always hustling. Now, he’s hoping he has another box office hit on his hands.
