By | January 11, 2024

In a dramatic turn of events, Samoa Joe emerged victorious at the AEW Worlds End. Also, this marks the end of MJF’s historic 406-day reign as the AEW World Champion.

At the go-home edition of Dynamite for the AEW Worlds End, it was revealed that Samoa Joe had made a deal with The Devil after attacking MJF with a steel chair. Following Joe’s victory at Worlds End, The Devil was revealed to be none other than MJF’s best friend, Adam Cole. Cole then introduced his new faction to the world, the Undisputed Kingdom.

Since winning the AEW World Championship, fans have been wondering who will step up next to Joe. In a pre-taped promo chillingly delivered on AEW Collision, Hook issued a direct challenge to the reigning champion.

Fresh off his championship victory at Worlds End, Samoa Joe strutted onto Dynamite for his first post-title address. But the spotlight wasn’t reserved for him alone. Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page crashed the party, leaving the champion embroiled in a tense war of words. But before things could come to blows, Hook emerged from the shadows, leading to a heated face-to-face showdown with Joe in the ring.

Following the tense encounter, the promotion announced that Samoa Joe vs. Hook for the World Championship will take place on Wednesday, January 17, on Dynamite.

This will be Joe’s first defense since dethroning MJF after his more than a year-long reign. Can Hook upset the king, or will Joe solidify his dominance?

Samoa Joe sets new rules for his AEW world championship

Samoa Joe wasted no time laying out his vision for the prestigious title on the latest edition of Dynamite. Joe stated the process of earning a world title shot, declaring that Twitter clout and cheap shots would no longer hold any weight.

As soon as Samoa Joe outlined his new system, the trio of disgruntled challengers Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page, and Hook interrupted him. Each man laid claim to a title shot. It was also announced that Joe will be defending his AEW World Champion next week on Dynamite against Hook.

With Samoa Joe having a target on his back from three of AEW’s top stars, it will be fascinating to see what unfolds on Dynamite next week.
