Scott Hall was one of the most beloved professional wrestlers of the 1990s. Razor Ramon was an institution during an otherwise dull era in WWE history. Hall was the first to jump to WCW and helped form the New World Order, a faction that changed the course of wrestling forever. Fans reacted with intense sadness at the news that he had passed away at the age of 63.
Hall’s death came after he suffered a broken hip in a fall. Emergency surgery to repair the hip resulted in complications. Blood clots got loose and caused multiple heart attacks. It was too much for Scott Hall to overcome.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Scott Hall’s health had been deteriorating for nearly two years. Scott was drinking again. and Sean Waltman told Meltzer that the isolation from the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately brought his downfall. When the fall took place that broke his hip, nobody was around for days, forcing the two-time WWE Hall of Famer to stay on the floor.
“His closest friends knew this was coming, but it probably made it worse because there was nothing they could do about it. Sean Waltman noted that he called Hall a month ago to come out to stay with him because Hall had been deteriorating for the past two years due to drinking.
‘The pandemic did him in. It was hard enough for him as it was, but he was isolated in his house with no social interaction. He was down to 210 pounds. We called Dally (Dallas Page) and he went over. It was really bad..’”
When Hall fell and broke his hip, he was unable to move and was laying on the ground, unable to get to the phone. He laid there for a few days before friends told Page to check on him since they couldn’t get in contact with him. Page found him and got him to the hospital.
It was noted that Hall was laying on the ground for several days after breaking his hip. It was ultimately Diamond Dallas Page who showed up and found him. This news only makes a tragic death all the harder to swallow. Hopefully, Scott Hall has finally found peace.
