Tony Khan Says Tonight’s AEW Dark Elevation Is The ‘Hottest Stuff We’ve Seen On A Monday For Wrestling’

By | May 31, 2021

AEW introduced a new weekly YouTube show called Dark: Elevation. The selling point was that Paul Wight, the former Big Show, was on the show as a commentator. They also try to stack the lineup to provide a big show each week. Tony Khan is obviously very proud of what they’ve been able to accomplish.

The company will have to change their programming formats for AEW Dark and Elevation once Rampage comes into play on August 13th. That was something that Khan made clear during the media scrum after Double or Nothing.

Khan also had a chance to promote this week’s episode of AEW Dark: Elevation. They recorded the episode on Friday prior to Dynamite going live on TNT. Tony Khan said that the live crowd was very vocal for that episode which will make it “the hottest stuff” that fans have seen on Monday for pro wrestling.

“We’re doing more content, we’re going to keep building new wrestlers and we’re going to keep doing Elevation and more Darks. So, it’ll be a big platform to introduce a great audience — Elevation has a great audience with Tony Schiavone and Paul Wight as commentators. I always try to put big matches on Elevation, angles, promos, trying to make it a great pro wrestling show. I think tomorrow is Monday and I think it’s going to be a great wrestling show tomorrow with stuff that was shot here on Friday night before Dynamite. It was a great crowd, great matches, it was hot. I think it’s the hottest stuff we’ve seen on Monday for wrestling, we’ll see.”

We will have to see if AEW is able to bring in even more fans to watch Elevation with that kind of promise. Obviously, AEW Dark: Elevation isn’t the only pro wrestling show on Mondays. The longest running weekly episodic television show in history, WWE RAW, also calls Mondays its home.

Was this an intended shot from Tony Khan, or is it just coming naturally at this point for him to shade WWE without even thinking? Sound off in the comments!
