Dana White, UFC’s president, has announced that the crowd for the UFC 261 will be going to pre-pandemic era levels. After revealing that the event will feature the full strength of the crowd as it used to without social distancing, he also revealed that there will be three back-to-back championship bouts taking place in the show.
The event which will be on the 24th at Jacksonville’s VyStar Veteran’s Memorial Arena will be the 3rd time in UFC history that three title fights will be taking place at the same day. Kamaru Usman (18-1 MMA, 13-0 UFC) will fight John Masvidal (35-14 MMA, 12-7 UFC) again with the Welterweight belt on the line on UFC Main Event.
Valentina Shevchenko (20-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) will fight to defend her championship at the UFC co-main event against Jessica Andrade (21-8 MMA, 12-6 UFC), and the fate of the strawweight championship will be decided in a battle against Zhang Weili (21-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) & Rose Namajunas (9-4 MMA, 7-3 UFC).
It’ll be the first time in 13 months where UFC will attract a large crowd for its major shows, and that makes it no secret that Dana White has been making UFC trend as well as making history with having three title fights take place in a row.
Many UFC fighters took to Twitter to react to the mind-blowing news.
