Why AJ Styles Didn’t Leave WWE for AEW Revealed

By | January 15, 2021

AJ Styles is currently one of the top Superstars in all of WWE and his career in the company so far has been a solid one, as fans would agree.

Styles signed a three-year contract with WWE back in 2016. That contract was set to expire by the end of 2019. Around that time AEW was the talk of the town in the pro wrestling world.

Many fans were wondering if The Phenomenal One would jump ship to AEW and leave WWE around that time.

While speaking to Bleacher Report’s Graham Matthews, AJ Styles revealed how close he was to signing with AEW. In the end, Styles made the decision that would benefit him the most as pro wrestling is still a business when all is said and done.

“Well Like I said before, this is a business. I’m going to go where business is best for AJ Styles. I like WWE and I like everything about it. I know it. I’m used to it. I don’t want to leave. This is a business, though. This is what we do for a living. Was it close? I wouldn’t say it was close for me. Like I said, I want to be in WWE.”

AJ Styles also recently revealed he wants to have a WrestleMania match against Triple H.
