Mr. Iguana stole the spotlight without even stepping in the ring. The AAA luchador was a surprise presence during WWE’s Worlds Collide and Money in the Bank weekend—and fans couldn’t get enough.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the internal reaction to Iguana’s massive pop at Worlds Collide was immediate.
“We have to get him to the Intuit Dome for a Money in the Bank appearance,” a WWE source said.
That move paid off. Mr. Iguana was seated behind commentary during Money in the Bank, where fans and Superstars alike treated him like a star. Dozens of WWE talents reportedly approached him for photos throughout the day. WWE officials praised his willingness to get involved in every promotional opportunity thrown his way.
“He was a pleasure and happy to do any and all promotional work they needed,” one higher-up noted. “He had a busy schedule Saturday.”
The love extended beyond the arena. Mr. Iguana’s merchandise reportedly performed exceptionally well over the weekend—second only to R-Truth’s new shirt in sales. WWE is already exploring how to capitalize on the momentum, including early discussions on producing official iguana puppets.
