WWE RAW went through several changes this week. That is not uncommon, but this week’s show saw a rather high number of those alterations.
Fightful Select reports that the most recent revision wasn’t distributed until just before the show on Monday night. And even then, there was a change. Montez Ford was supposed to face Dolph Ziggler until numerous people alerted higher-ups to the fact that his teammate Angelo Dawkins is from Cincinnati, where the show was held.
The show’s main event was also changed from drafts. At first, the drafts were different but later they were changed. Originally, the Elimination Chamber was supposed to feature Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. But the main event was then planned to bring in more people.
Seth Rollins, Damien Priest, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Austin Theory were set to compete. It was supposed to be a five-way match. The winner was then supposed to be eliminated from the Elimination Chamber.
Kenny Dykstra produced Veer Mahaan vs. Akira Tozawa, and Shawn Daivari produced Liv Morgan vs. Doudrop in the main event. Kenny Dykstra produced Tommaso Ciampa vs. Roderick Strong and Raquel Gonzalez vs. Io Shirai’s Smackdown Dark Matches. Jason Jordan also produced the dark match main event on Friday.
WWE set up more matches for next week’s show than usual. This is because they needed to have their creative plans solidified a lot more as they are taping the Elimination go home show the same night.
