WWE Was Forced To Change SmackDown Plans Following Big E’s Injury

By | March 12, 2022

Big E hit a significant speed bump for his career yesterday after suffering an injury at Friday Night Smackdown. He was stretchered out of the arena and taken to the hospital for treatment. His injury also led to a change of plans for WWE’s tapings.

Big E was initially scheduled for a post-show dark match with Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn, Happy Corbin, and Madcap Moss. That match was changed in the wake of recent events.

Fightful Select reports that the match was changed to Drew McIntyre vs. Austin Theory. Big E’s injury could also lead to some changes in plans for WrestleMania 38.

As we saw on the March 11th edition of WWE Smackdown, Big E landed on his head after a German suplex from opponent Ridge Holland. Big E later revealed that physicians have determined that he does not need surgery.

Big E didn’t suffer any damage to his spinal cord or ligament; therefore, he does not require surgery. However, he did fracture the C1 and C6. Still, those do not need surgical intervention as surgery is typically reserved for more complex cases, such as AODs, or when instability or neurologic compromise is present.

We at Ringside News are hoping for the best for Big E’s recovery.
