The Xbox Series X vs. PS5 Launch Game Comparison Chart provides an easy visual aid to compare which games will be available at each of the respective console launches.

As the Xbox Series X will become available on November 10th, 2020, and the PlayStation 5 will launch on November 12th in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, and on the 19th in all other territories, certain games may or may not be available depending on launch dates or exclusivity. Given that third party games that release during the PlayStation 5’s launch will also be available on the Xbox Series X on that day, these games will be counted for both parties for easier to read charts, and dates will be noted (except in cases of exclusivity).

Reminder: This page is for LAUNCH TITLES only.

Please note for the purpose of this guide that it is still being updated – certain third party titles may not have been confirmed for both consoles yet, or may have timed exclusivity on a certain console. Also, certain games may not be fully optimized for next gen consoles until some time after launch (ex. Destiny 2, For Honor)

Currently, there are 35 games that will be available for the Xbox Series X at launch, and 26 games available for the PlayStation 5. This chart does not include backwards compatible games – and the current gen games included in these lists are confirmed to have been upgraded for next gen consoles. Items in Bold indicate Smart Delivery or similar program of free upgrading to next gen console if the current gen game is owned. In regards to “console exclusives”, this chart does not take PC releases into account.

Microsoft has confirmed that both the Xbox Series X and Series S will support all playable games on the Xbox One – which include currently supported Xbox 360 and original Xbox games. However, those that require a Kinect senor may not be compatible.

Meanwhile, Sony has stated that most all PlayStation 4 Games will be compatible with the PS5 console at launch. Some of these games will even receive a “Boost Mode” to increase their framerate capabilities beyond what was capable on the PS4. However, the PS5 will not have compatibility with PS3, PS2, or PS1 games. See the PS5 Backwards Compatibility page for more information.
