The NFC East proved perhaps the most competitive division in football in 2022. On Saturday, a pair of its famous foes will clash for a spot in the conference championship.
The Eagles (14-3) were football’s best team in 2022. Fueled by strong performances from Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, A.J. Brown and Darius Slay, among others, Philadelphia moved like a buzz saw, thrashing teams left and right en route to the NFL’s best record.
Two of the Eagles’ wins came against the Giants, the team they are slated to face on Saturday. However, they were wildly different contests; Game No. 1 was a 26-point boat race, while Game No. 2 was a closely matched six-point affair.
Game No. 3 proves the most consequential. And with both teams looking as strong as ever — New York notched an impressive wild-card victory over the favored Vikings in Minneapolis last week — it should be a contest filled with fireworks.

Giants vs. Eagles live updates, highlights from 2023 NFL playoffs
10:32 p.m.: …Not quite. The Giants’ drive stalls out, prompting another familiar sight: punter Jamie Gillan booting the ball.
10:30 p.m.: Barkley leads off the fourth with a bang, trucking through a would be defender in route to a first down. Maybe that will breathe a little life into New York’s dour offense.
End of third quarter: Eagles 28, Giants 7
10:22 p.m.: The Eagles did end up punting the ball away. But before they did that, they tried to draw the Giants offside with an unusual punt formation. Sirianni always looking to keep opposition coaching on their toes.
10:20 p.m.: The Eagles got away with one. The ball slipped out of Hurts’ grasp after Xavier McKinney jarred it loose. However, Hurts was quick to react, falling on top of the ball to prevent the turnover. Looks like Philly will punt the ball away.
10:13 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Breida takes it in from close range, securing the Giants’ first points of the game. One score down, three to go.

10:12 p.m.: A pair of Slayton grabs bookend a solid Jones’ scramble, taking New York inside the 10 for the first time today. The Giants desperately need points here.
10:06 p.m.: Huge gain by Barkley, who finds a little daylight for the first time today. That’s a 40-yard pickup, one that will take the Giants deep inside Eagles’ territory.

10:02 p.m.: The Giants’ defense finds a way to hold Philly scoreless to start the frame. However, a subpar punt return once again pins New York back to start its next drive. Beggars can’t be choosers, I suppose.
9:57 p.m.: New York opens its first drive of the second half with another goose egg. Big Blue boots the ball back to the Eagles after yet another three and out.
End of second quarter: Eagles 28, Giants 0
9:34 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Hurts trots in from short distance as the Eagles add to their overwhelming edge. What a display by the young QB early: 12-of-17 for 118 yards and two touchdowns through the air, another seven carries for 31 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
.@JalenHurts doing what he does 🙌

Eagles 28, Giants 0
9:32 p.m.: It goes from bad to worse for the Giants. Gainwell takes a big shot after Hurts misses the target, one that draws a flag for unnecessary roughness. The ball is placed inside the 10. Rancid showing by Big Blue so far.
9:30 p.m.: Gainwell with a pair of decent gains, first through the air then on the ground, bringing the Eagles to the cusp of the end zone. Two minute warning approaching and things are looking smooth for the Birds thus far.
9:25 p.m.: Smith moves the chain with an impressive catch and carry. Philadelphia surging once more, with the ball just outside NY’s 30.
9:21 p.m.: Eagles charging downs he field once more; they already have the ball deep in New York territory. Things are getting uglier as we speak.
9:16 p.m.: Yet another three and out for New York’s offense. Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Jones can’t seem to find time in the pocket. Lots of pressure descending on him.
9:10 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Boston Scott takes it in to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 21-0.
.@Eagles up 21-0! @BostonScott2 #FlyEaglesFly

9:07 p.m.: Goedert with a wonderful block to open up space for Hurts, who scampers into the red zone. Things are getting punchy for the Giants.
9:00 p.m.: Giants have yet another drive halted under the crunch of the Eagles pressure. The ball is headed back to Philly.
8:56 p.m.: A brief hiatus as Jones puts his contacts but on.
8:54 p.m.: New York’s defense holds up, forcing a three-and-out to get the ball back.
End of first quarter: Eagles 14, Giants 0
8:48 p.m.: INTERCEPTION! Spoke too soon…Jones slings a pass behind Darius Slayton, who is unable to stoop down to get it. Instead, it falls perfectly into the path of James Bradberry, who comes up with the pick. That’s another Eagles drive slated to start in good field position.

8:47 p.m.: Giants got to get something going. Jones seems to have taken it to heart, evading pressure before placing a beautiful strike right into Matt Breida’s bread basket.
8:42 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Hurts hits Smith on the screen play. Great blocking from A.J. Brown on the outside, opening up a lane for Smith to take it in for Philly’s second score of the game. Perfect start for the Birds.

Eagles 14, Giants 0
8:41 p.m.: After a trio of positive plays, Philly finds itself just outside the five yard-line. The offense is looking as well-oiled as they come early.
8:39 p.m.: The toss play to Kenneth Gainwell works a treat, with the diminutive tailback finding a hole and taking it for 14 on third down. Eagles on the verge of another scoring drive.
8:34 p.m.: TURNOVER ON DOWNS! The Eagles’ defense holds! Nick Sirianni brings the cavalry on back-to-back plays, forcing Jones into a fourth down incompletion. Philadelphia will get the ball just outside midfield, an enticing position for such a high-powered offense.
8:32 p.m.: Play resumed and New York is starting to find its rhythm. Jones makes a pair of chunk throws over the middle to move the chains as the Giants break into Philadelphia territory.
8:28 p.m.: And…one play into the Giants drive, the chains appeared to have, quite literally, broke. Go figure.
8:26 p.m.: Big Blue takes the field, led by two of their offensive captains: quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley.
8:21 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Hurts connects with Dallas Goedert, who makes a highlight reel one-handed catch before turning upstream and taking it into the end zone!
Oh my @goedert33.

8:19 p.m.: Hurts has been incredibly efficient to start tonight’s game. He’s already 4-for-4 with 52 yards. Eagles have trekked their way inside the red zone.
8:17 p.m.: Second play from scrimmage results in a huge gain for Philly! Hurts hits DeVonta Smith for a 40-yard gain. That’s one way to start the game.

8:15 p.m.: The ball is kicked off and the game is underway! It’s Hurts and the Eagles with the ball first.
8:10 p.m.: About five minutes from the start of tonight’s game, should be a doozy of a matchup at the Linc.
7:40 p.m.: Big news for Eagles fans: Hurts has no restrictions on his play count after suffering a shoulder sprain in Week 15. Looks like Philadelphia’s staff is letting his off the leash for this one.
