World Series 2023 live score: Rangers vs. Diamondbacks updates, highlights, results from Game 3

By | October 30, 2023

Two games into the 2023 World Series and we are all square at 1-1.

The Rangers completed an electrifying comeback to steal Game 1 at home. Corey Seager’s game-tying two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth eventually set up Adolis Garcia to play hero in extra innings, blasting a walk-off solo shot in the 11th to give Texas a 1-0 series lead.

The Diamondbacks didn’t waste any time to respond after letting Game 1 slip away, tagging Rangers SP Jordan Montgomery for nine hits and four earned runs over six innings to set the tone for Game 2. Arizona’s bats stayed hot the entire night, finishing with 16 hits and nine runs to come away with a decisive victory to return home with the series tied.

Now, both teams will gear up for three straight games at Chase Field in Arizona.

The Diamondbacks will give the ball to 25-year-old RHP Brandon Pfaadt, who has looked like anything but a rookie in his first MLB postseason. Even though Pfaadt hasn’t recorded a decision in these playoffs, Arizona has won all four games he has started as he boasts a strong 2.70 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP over 16.2 innings pitched.

The Rangers will start future Hall of Fame RHP Max Scherzer, who will look to bounce back after two rough outings to start this postseason. Scherzer missed the remainder of the regular season with a shoulder injury and hasn’t looked like himself since he returned in the playoffs, owning a 9.45 ERA over 6.2 innings pitched in two starts.
