Co-showrunner Jason Filardi confirmed on social media that Chapelwaite Season 2 is no longer moving forward at Epix after nearly two years since its development was first announced. This cancellation comes after Epix was recently rebranded into MGM+ earlier this year.
“I’m afraid Captain Boone’s story ends on that beach of weathered, Maine sand,” Filardi wrote on X. “There will be no season 2. Thank you to all the Chapelwaite fans!”
What was Chapelwaite about?
Chapelwaite was based on Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot. It was written and executive produced by co-showrunners Peter and Jason Filardi. The horror drama starred Oscar winner Adrien Brody as Captain Charles Boone and Schitt’s Creek vet Emily Hampshire as Rebecca Morgan. Executive producers were Brody, Donald De Line and Burr Steers, with Nick Iannelli and Michael Mahoney also producing.
“The series was set in the 1850s,” reads the synopsis. “It followed Captain Charles Boone (Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.”
