Netflix has finally announced the star-studded cast for the upcoming Monster Season 4, which serves as the latest installment to Ryan Murphy‘s acclaimed crime drama anthology. This comes ahead of the show’s highly anticipated return with its third season, which will center around serial killer Ed Gein.

Monster Season 4 will center around story of Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted of the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother in Fall River, Massachusetts. It is co-created and executive produced by longtime collaborators Murphy and Ian Brennan, who are also both serving as co-writers. The pilot episode of Season 4 will be directed by Max Winkler.

Who will lead the Monster Season 4 cast?

Up-and-coming actress Ella Beatty has been tapped for the leading role in Monster Season 4. She will be playing axe murderer Lizzie Borden, who was previously played by Christina Ricci and Kristen Stewart in previous adaptations. Prior to landing the project, Beatty, who is also best known as the youngest daughter of acclaimed actors Annette Bening and Warren Beatty, made her TV acting debut in Murphy’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans series.

Joining Ella Beatty are Cannes winner Vicky Krieps (Phantom Thread, Corsage) and Globe Globe nominee Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona). Hall is expected to take on the role of Lizzie’s stepmother, while Krieps would be playing the family’s maid. In addition, Hall and Krieps are also currently working on Murphy’s other upcoming shows, with the latter also set to appear in Monster Season 3. Meanwhile, Hall is also starring in the new FX series The Beauty.
