A’ja Wilson is ready to enter her ninth season in the WNBA in style.
The four-time WNBA MVP went into Las Vegas Aces Media Day, where she donned a Jean Grey-inspired look with bright red hair. She styled it with loose curls and a side part. Wilson confirmed with reporters that the X-Men character inspired her.
“This one we kind of went with the Jean Grey type of vibe with X-Men,” said Wilson.

This is the third time that she has dyed her hair to a distinct color ahead of the Aces media day. In 2024, she switched to silver after the Aces won over the New York Liberty in the 2023 championship game, and in 2025, she chose pink to promote her new A-One shoe.
Her new hairstyle follows her historic 3-year, $5 million supermax contract extension with the Aces.
“A’ja is truly one of one, who has led this franchise to where it is today,” Aces president and GM Nikki Fargas said in a statement. “Not only has she catapulted into the history books and surpassed almost every record in existence, but she does so with the utmost confidence, authenticity and grace. We look forward to continuing to see her thrive in an Aces uniform.”
This makes her the highest-paid player in league history. Prior to the extension, she shared about her intentions of staying in Vegas.
“I love Vegas. I’m not leaving Vegas,” Wilson said April 10 per ESPN. “I’m looking to win another one. I’m looking to defend a championship that we have in Las Vegas. I’m looking to get better as a leader, as a player. Everything else just kind of falls in line.”
