CENTRE COURT, WIMBLEDON — An all-Czech women’s Wimbledon final sees Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova face off with both bidding to win a maiden grand slam title.
For the third time in the last four years, the Venus Rosewater Dish will be raised by Czech hands and at 21, Noskova, competing in her first grand slam final, becomes the youngest woman to contest the Championship match here since 2014.
At 29, Muchova has more experience and has already made a grand slam final before; losing to Poland’s Iga Swiatek at the 2023 French Open.
The pair have only met once previousy; winning via a three-set comeback, during a third-round tussle at the 2025 U.S. Open.

Muchova senses an opportunity as a sweet forehand winner gets her to 15-30. She has two break points as Noskova can’t return a backhand from an awkward position. Noskova saves both but at deuce makes an error. The older Czech can’t capitalize again as she gets to eager and smashes a forehand way beyond the baseline. Noskova keeps her nerve and holds. Missed opportunity for Muchova there and she knows it.

Muchova’s 0-30 down and nothing’s going quite right as a simple backhand sees the ball hit the floor immediately in front of her after hitting the rim of her racket. She gets level and the crowd are cheering her on eager to see a longer match. Noskova overhits a backhand and shows a bit of frustration; 40-30. Muchova gets the hold and they’ll be no bagels here.

Both players took quick comfort breaks after the first set but it hasn’t helped Muchova much. Noskova holds to love comfortably.

Muchova’s in a spot of bother at 0-30 and then she hits a simple forehand into the net. Three set points. She saves the first as Noskova’s backhand return goes long. She saves the second as Noskova goes big with the forehand return but again, it’s just long. The third is saved as Noskova’s return is overhit. Advantage Noskova as this time it’s a forehand return winner. She saves a fourth set point with a 106mph ace down the middle. Noskova gets a fifth set point and takes it with the most perfect of lobs after Muchova had come to the net. Just 31 minutes on the clock.

Muchova 2-5 Noskova*
Despite a double fault, Noskova soon takes control of the game to get to 30-15. Muchova’s backhand return can’t find a way over; 40-15. An ace down the middle wraps things up.

The 29-year-old hasn’t had much opportunity to showcase her athleticism so far but does so here with a neat backhand volley after an intense rally. A couple of errors from Noskova follow and then Muchova seals the game with the deftest of drop shots. Beautiful tennis.

The rallies have been short and sweet so far and Noskova has been faultless on her serve. At 40-15, she double faults and that is entirely my fault for jinxing her. A backhand from Noskova finds the net and we’re at deuce. Noskova gets the hold after bringing her opponent into the net for a tricky drop shot. The 21-year-old is now two games away from the opening set.

A first ace out wide for Muchova gets this game underway. Muchova hits two efforts beyond the baseline to fall 15-30 behind. Noskova has three break points as Muchova again makes a mistake. She saves the first with an ace out wide that leaves Noskova rooted. A double-handed backhand winner down the line sees Noskova break! The youngster looks more settled so far.

Muchova shows how deadly she can be if the ball arrives slow to her forehand as she drills one down the line; 30-15. Noskova has a simple backhand effort find the net; 40-15. it’s the same story at the next point and Muchova is on the board.

Noskova already showcasing the drop shot winners to get to 30-15. A big serve and then an overhit backhand from Muchova gets her up and running.
11 a.m. ET: The players make their way out on Centre Court to a huge round of applause. The stadium is filling up nicely as fans take their seats. It’s another warm one, 29C today, but there is a bit of a breeze.

10:40 a.m. ET: Muchova’s previous best Wimbledon finishes were quarterfinals in 2019 and 2021.
She does have a taste of grand slam final preparations though, losing the 2023 French Open showpiece to Iga Swiatek.
At this event, Muchova became the fifth woman in the Open Era to defeat three Grand Slam champions in the second week en route to a final (defeating Barbora Krejcikova, Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff.

10 a.m. ET: If Noskova wins the title, she will become the youngest Wimbledon champion since her fellow Czech Petra Kvitova in 2011, who won that year’s title aged 21 years, 116 days old (at tournament end date).
She is playing in her first grand slam final with her best Wimbledon result a fourth round showing last year as she lost to eventual runner-up Amanda Anisimova.

9:30 a.m. ET: There really isn’t much to separate these two today. They have only ever played each other once with Muchova winning in three sets in the 2025 US Open 3rd round.
But they do know each other’s games very well. In fact, they teamed up for doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where they finished in 4th place after falling in the bronze-medal final to the Spanish duo of Cristina Bucsa and Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Muchova and Noskova are tied for the most Tour-level match-wins on grass in 2026. They enter today’s final with identical 11-1 records on grass this season.
