How to Locate Eikthyr

Before we dive too deep into summoning and defeating Eikthyr, you will firstly need to locate the large stag-like boss, which is relatively simple.

When first spawning, you will find a small glowing red rock that’s located just left of Eikthyr’s sacrificial stone. Upon interacting with the rock, a brand new marker will be added to your world map to indicate Eikthyr’s location. It’s important to note that Eikthyr’s location can only be found within a Meadows biome.

How to Prepare for Eikthyr

Before we can tackle Eikthyr, there are several things we need to prepare, such as armor, weapon choice, and boosts.

So first up lets start with armor, as Eikthyr will arguably be the most challenging encounter that you will experience early on in the game. For this reason, we highly recommend obtaining the likes of a Deer Hide Cap, Leather Tunic, Leather Pants, and a Leather Helmet, as these will drastically increase your defense and will help you avoid taking large amounts of damage.

Once you’ve got your armor sorted, you will want to select a weapon. This can be in the form of melee or something more long range such as a bow and arrow. For our particular fight, we chose to pair a Flint Spear with a Wood Shield.

If getting up and personal isn’t exactly your style, you can always opt to use a Crude Bow and Arrows. The particular arrows that you use is entirely up to you, as the Wood Arrow, Flinthead Arrow, and Fire Arrow are all viable early game options should you spend the time collecting the required resources to craft them.

Before heading into battle with Eikthyr, it is highly recommended that you eat three different pieces of food to ensure that you are maximum health and stamina before your fight. Given the resources that will be available to you during your early game experience, we recommend eating Cooked Meat, Grilled Neck Tail, and either 1 Raspberry or Mushrooms.

We also recommend utilizing the Resting Effect, which can be obtained by your character for being sheltered or even sitting while receiving the warm bonus. With the rested effect active, players can receive a +50% Health Regen, +100% Stamina regen, as well as a 50% boost to all skill experience for a limited time.

How to Summon Eikthyr

Once you’re all prepared and ready for battle, it’s time to make your way to Eikthyr’s marked location on your map.

Upon arriving at the marked location, you will find a Mystical Altar. It is here that you will need to offer two Deer Trophies, which can be obtained as drops from hunting deer. Despite being a somewhat uncommon drop, it shouldn’t take you too long to obtain the two Deer Trophies.

With the two Deer Trophies on hand, place them on your action bar and offer them to the altar. This will trigger a short animation sequence and Eikthyr will soon appear.

How to Defeat Eikthyr

Now that you’re ready to fight Eikthyr, you will need to be aware of his three main abilities as they can really pack a punch and deal significant damage if you’re caught off guard.

Ranged Lightning:

  • During Eikthyr’s ranged lightning attack, he will shoot a lightning strike towards you from a relatively short distance away.
Lightning AOE:
  • A large AOE attack that sees Eikthyr shoot several lighting strikes in a circle.
Charge:
  • Once you notice Eikthyr’s head drop towards the ground, he will lunge forward in your direction and will charge you with his antlers.

As we stated earlier in our guide, we chose to defeat Eikthyr with a Flint Spear and Wood Shield, as this combination allows you to easily block the vast majority of his damage, while also getting off several quick hits between his three attacks. Just remember, it’s important to block all of Eikthyr’s attacks, so don’t be too greedy when it comes to launching your attacks on him. Take it slow and you should have him defeated in just a few minutes.

If you’re attempting to defeat Eikthyr with a Bow and Arrow we highly recommend kiting the large stag-like boss around the altar, using the stone pillars to advantage to avoid taking damage from his powerful attacks while also regaining your stamina.
