Harris & Simpson join Showtime’s The Man Who Fell to Earth
On the heels of moving the Chiwetel Ejiofor-led series adaptation from Paramount+ to Showtime, the roster for The Man Who Fell to Earth has continued to expand with the additions of Oscar nominee Naomie Harris (No Time to Die) and Emmy nominee Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), according to Deadline.

Based on Walter Tevis’ sci-fi novel and the David Bowie-led film adaptation of the same name, the story centers on an alien who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and is forced to confront his own past in order to determine both his and humanity’s future.
“To be working with an actor of Naomie’s caliber is an absolute dream,” Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet and John Hlavin, series writers/showrunners/executive producers, said in a statement. “Her strength, her complexity and her bold artistic choices are an inspiration. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.”

The 1976 film was directed by Nicolas Roeg from a screenplay written by Paul Mayersberg and was David Bowie’s first starring role in a feature film. Though a financial disappointment upon release, the film received generally positive reviews from critics and has garnered a strong cult following in the years since for its surreal imagery and the musician’s performance and is considered an important work of sci-fi cinema and one of Roeg’s best films.
In addition to Kurtzman, Lumet, and Hlavin, The Man Who Fell to Earth series will also be executive produced by Rola Bauer, Tim Halkin, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Heather Kadin, and Aaron Baiers.
