The Chi Season 4 Trailer Features a City at War
The trailer for The Chi Season 4 depicts the aftermath of an act of police brutality. Series main characters Jake, Papa and Kevin face the realities of being young and black in America. Together as they come of age, they reckon with a deeply broken system and band together with their community for justice. Showtime’s hit show from creator and executive producer Lena Waithe (Twenties) and executive produced by Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Common (Selma) returns for a new season with a premiere on May 23 at 9/8c. The Chi stars Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, and Birgundi Baker. The series centers on a group of residents on the South Side of Chicago who become linked by coincidence but bonded by the need for connection and redemption. The cast for the upcoming season includes Jacob Latimore (Like a Boss), Alex Hibbert (Moonlight), Yolonda Ross (Treme), Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps and Birgundi Baker. Luke James and Curtiss Cook have been added to series regulars in Season Four. Kandi Burruss and La La Anthony are set to return as guest stars, along with Tabitha Brown (Princess of the Row) and Chicago native Jason Weaver (Smart Guy).

The Chi is currently in production for 10 episodes in Chicago. Serving as producers in addition to Waithe and Common for Season 4 are Aaron Kaplan (A Million Little Things), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Derek Dudley and Shelby Stone of Freedom Road Productions, Rishi Rajani, president of Hillman Grad Productions, and showrunner Justin Hillian. The Chi is produced by 20th Television and produced in its entirety in the city of Chicago, its namesake.
