Welcome to the Fleet Battles page of the official IGN Wiki Guide and Walkthrough for Star Wars Squadrons. Here, we’ll break down everything you need to know about the multiplayer Fleet Battles mode including what it is and more.

Before diving headfirst into the game’s Fleet Battles mode, go to the Training menu of the game’s multiplayer and complete the Fleet Battles Tutorial. You’ll learn the basics of Fleet Battles here which will teach you fine-tuned strategies to ensure success in the Fleet Battles multiplayer mode.

How to Play Fleet Battles

  • Step 1: Dogfight
    • At the start of the battle, you and your squadron must engage in dogfights and take down enemy starfighters doing the same as you.
    • By winning the skirmish, you gain enough morale to move on to the first assault.
    • In the first assault, you’ll attack the enemy’s first line of defense: two medium-sized capital ships.
  • Step 2: Take Down Capital Ships
    • Take down capital ship shields and damage the hull using rockets, missiles, laser fire and more.
    • Bomber-class starfighters are generally armed with components designed for destroying capital ships.
    • For Corvettes, Raiders, Cruisers, and Nebulon Bs, use Ion damage via Ion Missiles and more to break through shields quicily.
    • With shields down, use explosives like rockets and missiles as well as your standard laser fire weaponry to damage the hull.
  • Step 3: Take Down Flagships
    • Assaults on flagships are multi-phased so feel free to experiment with different starfighter classes and different loadouts and components to determine your best personal strategy.
    • Use interceptors to destroy turrets — this will make it safer for bombers to fly in and disable shields, something they otherwise might not have been able to do with turrets attacking them. This will allow fighters to swoop in after the bombers to destroy shield generators which ultimately opens up the enemy for some serious flagship damage.
    • It’s essential that you learn the different parts, facets, and subsystems of flagships in order to successfully destroy them in time — use your squadron strategies and personal loadouts to mitigate the strengths of specific flagships.

Fleet Battles is a strategic multiplayer mode where two squadrons compete to destroy their opponent’s flagship.

  • In Fleet Battles, you’ll need to coordinate with your squadron of other real-world players to break through the enemy’s fleet defenses and destroy their flagship. Your goal is to do this before they destory yours.
  • This is a multi-stage, objective-based contest between two squadrons of five and it requires teamwork and strategy with your squadron to win the match.
  • Objective: Destroy the opposing flagship, which will either be Imperial or New Republic.
  • Fleet Battles is a ranked mode that pits you and your squadron of real-world enemies against a similar squadron of the opposing team.
  • By participating in ranked Fleet Battles, you can earn unique cosmetic rewards based on your performance.
  • Player rankings are reset every eight weeks with the start of a new Operation.
  • Morale dictates everything: it’s earned by destroying enemy ships and your team must obtain maximum morale to confidently go on the offensive, exposing enemy Capital Ships to your attack.
  • You gain Morale by destroying AI starfighters and player-controlled starfighters but you’ll always gain more morale from destroying the latter versus the former — keep in mind that this goes for enemy players too so expect them to focus on targeting player-controlled starfighters like you.
  • The morale meter at the top of your screen indicates which squadron side has control of the battle.
  • If the morale meter shifts back into your opponent’s favor, fall back as it is no longer safe to attack Imperial or New Republic cruisers — focus on defending your capital ships to prevent the enemy team from improving its morale.
  • When you’re low auxiliary ammunition or countermeasures, or, if you need to repair your ship’s hull, you can dock with a Capital Ship to resupply.
  • Resupplying requires you to dock and will take some time — NOTE: You can still take damage from enemy starfighters while docking.
  • As long as you’re in range, following another (enemy) player’s starfighter will make them visible to allies on your team.
  • After you’ve taken down enough starfighters, Imperial Raiders (if you’re playing opposite them as part of the New Republic) or New Republic Corvettes (if you’re playing opposite them as part of the Galactic Empire) will arrive.
  • Destroying Imperial Raiders and New Republic Corvettes awards your squadron a major morale boost, which can tip scales in your favor, so when these ships arrive, focus on taking them out.
  • You can return to your hangar if you wish to change fighters and take on a different role that your team might need.
  • Depending on the phase of the fleet battle, different ships can benefit your squadron more so learn what works best for you team.

  • Fleet Battles Vs AI is an unranked mode that tasks you with coordinating with a squadron of players or AI allies to break through the AI’s enemy fleet defenses and destroy their flagship before they destroy yours.
  • This mode is designed for a more casual experience.

How to Play Fleet Battles Vs. AI
