The film, which features 11 Original Songs and Score Performances by Members of Superchunk, The Mountain Goats, & the dB’s, opens on three estranged high school friends — Cameron, Jackson, and Emma — who reunite at a concert in their early 20s and are suddenly confronted with the dreams that life had forced them to abandon; as they struggle to heal their relationship, their futures, and themselves.

Fix features 11 original songs, all recorded and produced by North Carolina indie rock legend Chris Stamey (the dB’s, Big Star’s Third Live) at Modern Recording. The musical numbers were each shot in one continuous take, with the student camera operators performing choreographed footwork in their own right alongside each of the actors. The vocal performances by Jackson Campbell, Michael Kovasala, and Harper Cleland stand out, while being backed by full 4 & 5 part harmonies from an ensemble choir. Most importantly, the film is full of the heart and spirit of its creators, who much like the lead characters, united to fulfill a seemingly impossible dream.

Of the film’s creation, co-producer Nicholas Bafia stated, “Fix started as a shoot-the-moon sort of undertaking and quickly turned into a serious and committed passion project made possible by the creative energy, time, and talent of a bunch of college kids with big dreams.”

Fix was directed by William Leitch and stars Harper Cleland, Michael Kovasala, and Jackson Campbell.
