Hugh Jackman’s Time as Wolverine Is ‘Done,’ but Ryan Reynolds Doesn’t Believe Him

Hugh Jackman has had a long and storied career as an actor, with perhaps his most iconic role coming in the form of Wolverine in the X-Men franchise. While fans would love to see Jackman make his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actor doesn’t sound too optimistic on that.

In an interview with Jake’s Takes, Jackman was asked about recent rumors of potentially popping up in an MCU film, almost all but shutting them down.

“Well, the fact that I’m hearing about this from you and there’s nothing in my inbox from Kevin Feige means it’s probably, no matter what idea I came up with, not on the table,” Jackman said. “Let’s be clear there.

“I realized before we shot Logan, we got the idea, we knew what it was going to be, and I thought this is it and that really helped me. It really helped to know I was going into my last season when it was my last season, and I made the most of it,” Jackman said. “And it’s still a character I hold close to my heart, but I know it’s done. Tell that to whomever you want, but please tell it to Ryan [Reynolds] because he doesn’t believe it and he thinks I’m joking.”

While this may be disappointing news to some, it does make sense. Jackman’s last major portrayal of Wolverine was in Logan, which seemed to be a fitting end to his time in the role. In the meantime, fans will have to continue wondering just what Marvel Studios has in store for the X-Men franchise now that they’ve acquired ownership over them once again.
