The Atlanta Braves announced a pair of roster moves on Tuesday afternoon.
First, outfielder Mike Yastrzemski was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. That meant Atlanta had to cut someone from the roster.
According to a release from the NL East organization, infielder Kyle Farmer was released. The 10-year Major League veteran will become a free agent if he clears waivers.
Farmer, despite spending a decent chunk of the season on the active roster, was used sparingly by the Braves. He signed a minor league deal with Atlanta during the offseason.
In 16 trips to the plate, Farmer collected four hits and three RBIs, striking out four times in those opportunties.

“Atlanta probably wasn’t expecting much more than that. Farmer has been a light-hitting utility guy throughout his career, with a .247/.306/.387 line over ten seasons,” Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Tuesday. “Defensively, he has played every position on the diamond except for center field and right field.”
In parts of 10 MLB seasons, Farmer has suited up for five different teams. However, he has only surpassed 100 games played in four of those years.
Over 816 games, Farmer owns a .247/.306/.387 hitter with 63 home runs and a .693 OPS.
It’s possible he lands with another organization on a minor league deal and serves as a potential injury replacement before the postseason.
