Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell ‘questionable’ to play vs Hawks

On Wednesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers are set to host the Atlanta Hawks, as they look to close their gap on the third-seeded New York Knicks ahead of the NBA Playoffs. In their last outing, the Cavaliers took down the Memphis Grizzlies, 142-126, as a result of an overall team effort.

Evan Mobley, Dennis Schroder, and Sam Merrill all put up 20 or more points, while six other teammates finished with double-digit scoring numbers. These performances more than made up for the absence of James Harden and Donovan Mitchell, who sat out on Monday night due to their respective injuries.

Mitchell could miss out on Wednesday night’s action against the Hawks

While Harden has been cleared of Cleveland’s injury report, the same can’t be said for Mitchell, who is listed as “questionable” due to a right ankle sprain, which is what kept him out of Monday night’s match against Memphis.

The seven-time All-Star has been rather consistent for the Cavaliers this season, missing only 10 games heading into Wednesday night. In the games that he’s appeared in this season, Mitchell has once again been Cleveland’s charge on the offensive end of the court, averaging 27.8 points and 5.7 assists per game.

In his place, head coach Kenny Atkinson has a few different ways he can go, including using the aforementioned Schroder, as well as Keon Ellis, both of whom the Cavaliers acquired at the trade deadline.

Cleveland and Atlanta will face off on Wednesday night, with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m. EST.
