Some draft picks simply don’t work out.
And with the Kansas City Chiefs coming off a nightmare 6-11 season, it might be time to move on from a former first-round pick.
That pick is Felix Anudike-Uzomah, an edge rusher who has simply not made an impact with the Chiefs.
He’s got just one year left on his rookie deal. He wouldn’t command a ton in a trade. But any return he could get is likely more valuable than what he’s proven he can do on the field so far in his NFL career.
The Chiefs would need to hope another team thinks Anudike-Uzomah still has potential. And the player himself probably wouldn’t mind a chance to start somewhere fresh.
ESPN’s Aaron Schatz wrote on Wednesday that Anudike-Uzomah is the Chiefs player most in need of a change of scenery.
“Anudike-Uzomah has not come close to living up to his potential as a first-round pick for the Chiefs,” Schatz writes. “He barely played in his rookie year in 2023 and had just 2.5 sacks with just three starts in his sophomore campaign. In 2025, he missed the entire season with a hamstring injury. At best, he is fourth on the Chiefs’ depth chart, behind George Karlaftis, Mike Danna and Ashton Gillotte. With one year remaining on his rookie deal, perhaps a trade would allow Anudike-Uzomah to finally find the potential that teams saw when he came out of Kansas State.”

The Chiefs could use a bit of a freshening up after their tough campaign in 2025. It’s not all Anudike-Uzomah’s fault, but it’s also tough when talented players don’t reach their potential.
Kansas City just doesn’t seem like it’ll be the place that Anudike-Uzomah finds his way to NFL success.
