The Philadelphia Phillies got one back on Wednesday night.
Looking weary after dropping the first two games of their NLDS series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Phillies returned to form in Game 3, scoring in bunches en route to an 8-2 win to stave off elimination.
Philadelphia’s bats, so dominant during the regular season, came alive against Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers’ bullpen. Kyle Schwarber launched two towering home runs, while four other Phillies recorded multiple hits.
Equally important, the Phillies kept Los Angeles’ lineup quiet. Shohei Ohtani went hitless, dropping his postseason average to .174. And despite repeated pressure, the Dodgers were unable to crack Ranger Suarez, who starred in relief, pitching five innings while allowing just one run.

The Phillies are still facing the drop, down 2-1 ahead of a decisive Game 4. But their performance in Game 3 offered a road back for Rob Thomson’s squad. Only time will tell if Philadelphia can take advantage.
