Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker live fight updates, results, highlights from 2022 heavyweight boxing fight

By | September 24, 2022

A former champion and a rising star will clash to determine the next big contender at heavyweight. Inside the AO Arena in Manchester, Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker face off on September 24.

Joyce (14-0) made his pro debut in 2017. A British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver, WBO International, and European heavyweight champion, Joyce beat Daniel Dubois via KO in 2020. That was considered the biggest win of his career to date. Behind closed doors, Joyce attacked the eye of Dubois until he could not see. Now fighting with a full crowd, Joyce is ready to make the most of his opportunity.

“It’s my first big, big fight in front of a crowd,” Joyce told The Ring. “There’s a lot of hype behind it, there are two great fighters, myself and Joseph, and it’s going to be a tough fight. I believe it’s going to be my hardest fight to date. He’s tricky, he got good head movement, good footwork, and he really wants it. But it’s going to be exciting. It’s going to be an enjoyable fight which ends with me knocking him out.”

The London native last fought in July, beating Christian Hammer for his 13th win via knockout.

Parker (30-2) won the WBO heavyweight title in 2016 against Andy Ruiz Jr. He lost the belt against Anthony Joshua in 2018. Losing to Dillian Whyte in his next bout, Parker has recently won six in a row. He won two fights against Derek Chisora, the last one in December 2021.

“I see a lump, a big man,” Parker said about Joyce at a pre-fight media conference, via “A man that’s confident, a man’s that ready, but a man who is going to be stopped in his tracks. Hype train.”

Also on the fight card will be the return of Amanda Serrano. The WBC, WBO, and IBO featherweight champion, Serrano (42-2-1) faces off against IBF champion Sarah Mahfoud in a unification bout. This is Serrano’s first fight since losing to undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor in April.
