Katherine Legge is making a bid for history on Sunday.
Over the years, one of the most difficult challenges in racing has become the “Double” — when a driver attempts to race in both the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, as the events both fall on the Sunday before Memorial Day. Because the Indy 500 falls in the early afternoon in Indianapolis, while the Coca-Cola 600 takes place in the evening in Charlotte, a few stars have made attempts to participate in both.

Only one driver has ever completed the “Double” in full, but even if Legge can start in both races, she’d make history as the first woman to do so.
