LeBron to the Warriors? This is what Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini thinks

LeBron James still hasn’t picked his free agency destination.

The NBA world is waiting as teams like the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat state their case to land one of the greatest players of all time.

The Warriors are the destination that would probably be, at least at first, the weirdest.

James and Steph Curry have competed against one another for a decade-plus. They did get the chance to play together at the Olympics, and it’d probably be cool in the long run to see them play a season together.

But at first, James in a Warriors jersey would be an odd thing.

That’s certainly the way San Jose Sharks superstar Macklin Celebrini feels about it. He was asked about the LeBron situation in a new article on ESPN, and this is what he said:

“It’d be weird, just because of that rivalry with him on the Cavs. I feel like they’ve been going at it every step of the way. It’d be like if Ovi and Sid were played together. It’d be a little bit weird at first, but I think it’d be cool for the game.”

Celebrini is the best young hockey player on the planet and could by this time next offseason have set a new NHL contract record.

His dad previously worked as the head of sports medicine for the Warriors, creating an extra connection beyond just the current geography.

Celebrini could eventually become an all-time great himself. His early-career trajectory is certainly pointed that way.

And he’s right: If LeBron joined the Warriors, it’d be weird but also cool.
