The Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers both enter Week 8 in need of a pick-me-up victory.

With the two squads set to clash on “Thursday Night Football” in Los Angeles, neither has been able to distance themself as a top-tier contender in their respective conference in recent weeks. Since Week 4, the Vikings and Chargers have combined for five losses in seven games despite strong starts to the 2025 season.

For both sides, injuries can be blamed for some of those issues. The Vikings will once again roll out Carson Wentz at quarterback in Week 8 as second-year passer J.J. McCarthy recovers from an ankle ailment — Minnesota has gone 2-2 since Wentz stepped in, most recently falling to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers have dealt with a beat-up running back room, offensive line injuries and more. Following a Week 7 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Justin Herbert and company are trying to get back on track as their 3-0 start has dropped to 4-3. Week 8 could wind upbeing indicative of the Chargers’ direction down the stretch of the 2025 campaign.
