San Francisco and Los Angeles square off for a divisional rivalry in what is arguably the NFL’s best division with playoff ramifications on the line.
The 49ers (4-6) probably don’t stand much of a chance of making the playoffs this season, and have lost three games in a row by at least 10 points, but they already beat the Rams in Week 6. While San Francisco is fresh off a bye week, it has only won one game in the past seven seasons immediately after a bye. Rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been one of the few offensive bright spots as his five touchdowns are the fifth most among rookies. The offense could receive a needed boost in the form of Raheem Mostert and Deebo Samuel who both missed the 49ers’ last three games.
Los Angeles (7-3) is in first place of the NFC West by way of a head-to-head tiebreaker over Seattle. The Rams have the No. 1 defense, allowing 291.9 yards a game but will be without leading tackler Micah Kiser and also safety Sean Rapp. Aaron Donald also hasn’t had a tackle in the last two games, a frist for his career. Jared Goff has passed for 300 yards in three straight games, and hasn’t reached that mark four consecutive times since the Rams’ 2018 Super Bowl season.
The Rams are let to lose a game in their new SoFi Stadium. Kyle Shanahan is 4-0 against the Rams with Jimmy Garoppolo starting at quarterback but 0-3 with anyone else. Nick Mullens will start for San Francisco.
