By | March 25, 2023

Virginia Tech is one of two No. 1 seeds left standing in Women’s March Madness.

The Hokies have knocked down two pawns thus far, their latest victim being No. 9 South Dakota State. This is the second time in program history Virginia Tech will be seeing Sweet 16 play.

Tennessee, meanwhile, is in its 41st straight NCAA Women’s Tournament journey and is coming off blowout wins over Saint Louis (95-50) and Toledo (94-47) to become the fourth team to win each of its first two NCAA games in a tournament by a 45-point margin.

Virginia Tech and Tennessee met earlier this season, with the Hokies pulling out a 59-56 victory in Knoxville in December on a team-high 18 points by Kayana Taylor.
