Bridgerton Season 2 casts Calam Lynch and Shelley Conn

The Netflix period drama Bridgerton has added Shelley Conn (Liar) and Calam Lynch (Benediction) to its roster. Conn joins the cast as Mary Sharma, the matriarch of a new family Season 2 will focus on in addition to the Bridgerton clan. Also joining the cast are Charithra Chandran (Alex Rider) as Edwina Sharma (Kate’s younger sister) and Rupert Young (The Secret Garden) who will play Jack.

The Sharma family’s return to London raises eyebrows as her marriage to a tradesman created quite a stir. Now her family faces scrutiny once more as they re-enter society. Lynch enters the fold as Theo Sharpe, a printer’s assistant with more revolutionary inclinations than expected for his working-class station.

They join Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey, who take up the romantic mantle as Season 2’s leads. Ashley stars as headstrong Kate, who is more than prepared to handle anything that comes her way including Anthony Bridgerton (Bailey). Makes sense as the breakout star of the show Regé-Jean Page will not be returning.

The show continues to reimagine the world of Julia Quinn’s high society series of books, this time adapting The Viscount Who Loved Me, which centers around the pursuit of a suitable marriage for Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton sibling.

The show comes from Chris Van Dusen who serves as executive producer with Shondaland’s Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

Quickly after its Christmas Day release, Bridgerton became a major hit for Netflix with a record of 82 million households binging the series in its first month. The Shondaland series is based on the books by Julia Quinn. The Bridgerton ensemble includes Phoebe Dynevor, Golda Rosheuvel, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh, Polly Walker, Bessie Carter and Harriet Cains and Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown.
