Social media has been ablaze since Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg agreed to a fight. According to UFC President Dana White, he’s already spoken to the pair about a potential match.
Both Zuckerberg and Musk are serious about fighting
Speaking to TMZ Live on Thursday, White said that he’s been in communication with both Zuckerberg and Musk. Both are genuinely interested about squaring off in the ring.
“Talked with Mark and Elon last night, both guys are absolutely dead serious about this,” White said.
Things began on Twitter this week, when Musk replied to a tweet noting Zuckerberg was in the process of building a social media site similar to Twitter. Musk jokingly noted that he was “up for a cage match” if Zuckerberg was.
The situation escalated when Zuckerberg later replied with an Instagram story. He shared Musk’s tweet with a caption that read “send me location” over it, indicating he was ready to fight. Musk also confirmed he would be willing to participate on Twitter, leading many to wonder if the pair actually want to fight or are just joking.
If the pair were serious, according to White, it would easily be the most-watched fight of all time.
“The biggest fight of all time was Floyd and Conor, I just think it triples that — it triples what that did, there’s no limit on what that thing can make,” White said, adding that the cost for a potential UFC pay-per-view would be $100 per person — a slight bump up from the normal price of $80.
As for the two billionaires, Zuckerberg has been training; he’s even partaken in some jiu-jitsu competitions. While Musk seemingly has no fighting experience, White did say that Elon told him he’d been involved in “plenty of fights growing up in South Africa.”
