Funimation’s Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU English Dub Out This Week

Funimation has announced that the release date for the English dub of Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU, which will arrive on the streaming service on August 19.

The first episode of the English dub will be available that day, with subsequent episodes following in the weeks after. The series is also currently available subbed, with the ninth subbed episode also set to air on August 19.

“Following the revelation of key players behind the recent string of tragedies, Keiichi, Rena, Mion, Shion, and Rika will have to unravel the horrific events and take on a force greater than any they’ve ever faced before,” reads the official synopsis

Higurashi: When They Cry – SOTSU is a continuation of the previous series, GOU, which itself is a sequel to the original Higurashi story. The entire English voice cast from the series will be returning for SOTSU, including Apphia Yui (Ping Pong the Animation, Horimiya) as Rik’s Furude, Emi Lo (AZUR LANE, Smile Down the Runway) as Rena Ryugu, Michelle Rojas (Boogiepop and Others, Date A Live) as Mion Sonozaki, and Brittany Lauda (Nichijou – My Ordinary Life, Made in Abyss) as Satoko Hojo.

While the original anime was produced by Studio DEEN, GOU and SOTSU are produced by Studio Passione, previously known for their work on Citrus and Hinamizawa Note.
