The Godzilla anime that released earlier this year in Japan is set to make its worldwide debut on Netflix in June. Netflix announced today that Godzilla Singular Point will release June 24, 2021. The show features a unique art style as it blends hand-drawn and computer animation.

The show premiered in Japan via Netflix on March 25, 2021, and was then began airing on Tokyo MX the following week. Veteran anime studios Bones and Orange co-produced the series with Atsushi Takahashi as director.
Taking place in the year 2030, Godzilla Singular Point follows an engineer named Yun Arikawa and graduate student Mei Kamino. Despite being in different locations, the two wind up hearing the same song and are led into a battle that puts the whole world at risk.
Yume Miyamoto voices Kamino, while Arikawa is voiced by Shōya Ishige. Other voice talents include Tarō Kikuchi, Watari Takagi of Detective Conan fame, Misaki Kuno, Rie Kugimiya, and Ayako Takeuchi among others.

The series’ opening theme is “in case…” by BiSH, and Polkadot Stingray performs the ending song, “Aoi.” Music during the show is composed by Kan Sawada, while character design is handled by Kazue Kato (the creator of the Blue Exorcist manga) and former Studio Ghibli animator Eiji Yamamori designed the monsters.
Netflix has also released a trilogy of Godzilla animated films. First was 2017’s Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, which was followed by Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle and Godzilla: The Planet Eater in 2018.
