Jesse Plemons Joins Elizabeth Olsen in HBO Max’s Love and Death

Following the official series order for David E. Kelley’s Love and Death earlier this month, HBO Max has announced that Emmy nominee Jesse Plemons has signed on to star opposite MCU vet Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) in the upcoming true-crime drama limited series, centered around Texas axe killer Candy Montgomery. Plemons is set to portray the role of Allan Gore, the husband of Betty Gore, who was murdered by Montgomery.

This marks Plemons’ first television project in nearly four years since appearing in a Black Mirror episode in 2017. The 33-year-old actor will next be seen in a handful of high-profile movies such as Disney’s Jungle Cruise, Producer Guillermo del Toro’s horror pic Antlers, Netflix’s drama film The Power of the Dog, and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Love and Death will center around two church-going couples, enjoying small-town family life in Texas, until somebody picks up an axe. It is based on the book titled “Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs” and a collection of articles from Texas Monthly (Love & Death in Silicon Prairie, Part I & II).

The series will be written and executive produced by David E. Kelley (The Undoing) through his David E. Kelly Productions banner, with Lesli Linka Glatter (Mad Men) set to direct. Executive producers are Glatter, Nicole Kidman, and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt through Texas Monthly, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno. Lionsgate will produce the limited series.
