Marvel Studios Bosses Issue Statement Addressing Strike Production Delays

By | July 14, 2023

With the SAG-AFTRA strike underway, many high-profile projects in Hollywood have already temporarily halted. These include Marvel Studios productions, such as Deadpool 3 and the Daredevil: Born Again series.

Marvel Studios bosses Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito have issued a joint statement to their staff. The heads address production delays caused by the simultaneous strikes of WGA and SAG-AFTRA. Both admitted disappointment with the delays, but recognized unexpected changes and challenges are part of the business.

“We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them,” Feige and D’Esposito said (via The Hollywood Reporter). “We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process.”

Marvel Studios’ Upcoming Projects in 2023

Following the theatrical debut of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios’ last scheduled movie release for 2023 is Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels starring Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani. Should the SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP have not reached a fair conclusion by then, the cast will not promote the November film as per strike conditions.

As for Marvel Studios’ TV side, Loki Season 2 and Echo are currently expected to debut later this year. (Both follow Secret Invasion, which wraps up its six-episode run in two weeks.) The Tom Hiddleston-led series will make its return on October 6, while all episodes of the Hawkeye spin-off series will drop on November 29. Just like The Marvels cast, Loki and Echo actors would not be able to participate in press tours if the actors strike continues during their premiere months.
