Listed below are the best Armor Sets and combinations that we have found in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Before reading on, please note that the following Armor Sets are a matter of personal opinion and are listed in no particular order as each set brings their own unique qualities that are entirely dependent on your own playstyle.

Raven Armor Set

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Armor the lower your health is.
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Critical Chance.

Despite being Eivor’s default outfit, the Raven Clan Armor is the perfect armor set to use throughout your early to mid-game experience, especially since the set offers a bonus that buffs your armor stats when your health is low – something that will be very beneficial as you learn the combat system.

While the Raven Clan Armor set is technically more than capable of lasting throughout the entire campaign, we do recommend that once you have found your prefer play style, you begin to make the transition to another armor set that is better suited.

We only really recommend changing due to the fact that the Raven Clan Armor doesn’t really specialize in any particular area.

Gained early on in Norway when completing the main story, you will receive most of the armor set during the early quest, Honor Bound, where you reclaim your gear and followers. You will also receive the helm not too long after, upon defeating Kjotve during the quest, A Cruel Destiny.

The Raven Clan Armor Set Stats

While armor stats are dependent on quality, here is a breakdown on what you can expect from the armor set.

Raven Armor Set
Armor Name Base Stats (Fine Quality)
Arm. Eva. L-Res. H-Res. Wgt.
Raven Clan Cloak 15 14 23 19 11
Raven Clan Bracers 18 14 19 23 11
Raven Clan Armor 20 14 21 21 12
Raven Clan Breeches 16 14 18 24 11
Raven Clan Helmet 20 14 24 18 11
  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Ranged Damage when hitting enemies further than 20m away.
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Speed.

For our Bow toting friends that shy away from close-range combat, look no further than the Bear aligned Huntsman Armor, as the early range based armor set is perfect for those that primarily use their bow.

With your ranged damage increasing when hitting enemies from further than 20m away, we recommend pairing this armor set with the likes of the Petra’s Arc Bow and the Focus of the Nornir ability, as this deadly combination is a must for any archer.

With stacked speed increases coming from both your armor set and Focus of the Nornir ability, enemies won’t know what hit them, especially when factoring in the triple stack of increased damage that comes from your bow, ability, and armor set.

Hidden Ones’ Armor Set

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Assassination Damage when crouched and undetected for 10 seconds
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Increases Headshot damage

Built for stealth, the Hidden Ones’ armor set is perfect for those that want to embrace their inner Assassin, as wearing 2 out of the 5 armor pieces will see your Assassination Damage increase when crouched and undetected for 10 seconds.

While you won’t necessarily need to wear all five pieces – unless you frequently use your bow to take full advantage of the increased headshot damage – we would recommend mixing this armor set with something else that better supports your playing style.

If you’re trying to remain stealthy, you may want to consider the mixing the Hidden One’s Armor with the Huldufolk set, the Magister’s Armor, or even the Galloglach Armor Set as each offer stealth based qualities.

Mentor’s Armor Set

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Attack after Critical Hits
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Speed

A clear throwback to the more traditional Assassin’s Creed armor, the Mentor’s Armor Set has a very heavy focus on increasing your attack speed.

Given the Mentor’s Armor bonuses, we recommend that you collect and run the entire set, as you’ll want to take full advantage of the speed increases.

Pairing the armor with high Critical Chance weapons such as Axes, Bows, Daggers, and Spears, will definitely help you make the most of the armors unique perks.

As crazy as it may sound, even running the dual-spear setup that we mentioned in our Best Weapons Guide would work a real treat, as the Fafnir’s Fang‘s Critical Chances are already reaching the high 90s at base quality.

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Armor when surrounded by more than 2 enemies
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Melee Damage

Designed for those that love to get into the action, it’s hard to look past the Brigandine Armor set when it comes to short-range combat.

Offering an armor buff when surrounded by more than 2 enemies and an increase to your melee damage, we recommend running the entire armor set to make full use of the set bonus.

Our go-to pairing for the Brigandine armor is a dual-dagger set-up but you can always opt for something a little more heavy hitting like a two-handed Axe, or a combination of a Shield and Flail. If you’re stuck on which to choose, check out our Best Weapons Guide to see our recommendations.

Thegn’s Armor Set

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Critical Chance when parrying
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Critical Chance

The Thegn’s Armor Set is a Bear-aligned set of heavy offensive armor that is designed to be used in conjunction with massive critical attacks.

Similar to the Mentor’s Armor, Thegn’s Armor Set is built for those that want to deal as much damage as possible, while relying very heavily on parrying any incoming attacks.

Unfortunately though, the armor set does pack quite a bit of weight, making it not the most ideal armor for quick escapes. In the perfect situation, Thegn’s Armor Set will thrive in longer combat situations.

Thor’s Armor Set

  • Armor Set Bonus (2/5): Increase Speed when stunning an enemy
  • Armor Set Bonus (5/5): Additional increase to Stun

Thor’s Armor is a rare and powerful bear-aligned set that focuses primarily on amplifying your crushing blows to increase the power of your stunning attacks, all while bolstering your own defense.

As with other end-game armor sets, we recommend running the entire set of Thor’s Armor to best utilize the set bonuses.

One of our favorite go-to combinations for Thor’s Armor Set is the Sarcophagus Shield and Varin’s Axe, as both provide exceptional Stun damage. Otherwise, forgoing the Shield and pairing Varin’s Axe with the Blacksmith’s Hammer is also another powerful option.

With the added bonus of increased speed when stunning an enemy and an additional increase to your stun chance, Thor’s Armor Set can leave you almost invincible.

Thor’s Armor Set can be found upon defeating the Daughters of Lerion, along with defeating all of the Order of the Ancients. For a more in-depth walkthrough, check out how to find Thor’s Armor Set here.
