How to Craft a Fermenter and Cauldron

Before you can start Fermenting meads and other recipes in Valheim, you will need to build a Fermenter, which requires a Charcoal Kiln, Smelter, and Forge to have been built, along with x30 Fine Wood, x5 Bronze, and x10 Resin to craft the actual Fermenter.

If you’re struggling to obtain Fine Wood or Bronze, consider checking out our step-by-step guides below for even more details.

Along with a Fermenter, you will also need a Cauldron to mix all of your potential meads together.

To craft the Cauldron – a key item that is needed to start the fermentation process – simply use your Hammer and select the Cauldron from the Building tab. You will need a total of x10 Tin in order to craft the recipe.

How to Use the Fermenter and Cauldron to Brew Mead Base Recipes

Once you have crafted both the Fermenter and Cauldron, you will be able to start brewing your mead base recipes, which can be done by placing the the ingredients needed for any of following recipes into the Cauldron.

Upon crafting your mead within the Cauldron, remove it from the pot and proceed to place it inside the Fermenter.

What is the Fermentation Timer

Now that you have placed your mead into the fermenter, you’re probably wondering just how long it will take for the fermentation process to complete?

You will need to let the mead sit in the Fermenter for a total of 2 in-game day and night cycles or approximately 1 hour in real time. It’s important to note that each batch of mead will produce a total of 6 meads.
