The match starts off with Strong on the offense early, taking Moxley to the corner before the referee intervenes. Moxley then takes control as he takes Strong to the mat, but Strong fights back immediately before backing Moxley up to the corner for a chop. Both men then return to the center for an exchange of strikes. Things then spill to the outside as Strong lays into Moxley. Moxley then fights back as the fight goes into the crowd. They then finally bring things back to ringside before Moxley gets back in the ring, hitting the ropes for a dive onto Strong and both men are down.

Moxley is firmly in control as he takes Strong to the mat, going after the face and head of Strong before Strong rolls Moxley up onto his shoulders, getting a near fall to break the hold. Both men are back to their feet and Moxley wears Strong down enough to set up for a Gotch style piledriver as we hear that ten minutes have elapsed. Strong then breaks free, sending Moxley out of the ring before taking him to the floor. Strong then brings Moxley to the ring, hitting the ring for a flurry of offense before Moxley goes for a lariat. Strong then ducks it, hoisting Moxley up to slam him to the canvas. Strong then hits a forearm strike off the ropes, sending Moxley to the mat once more for a near fall. Moxley then escapes a Stronghold attempt, but Strong intercepts him on the outside only for Moxley to set him up on the steps.

Strong then breaks free before slamming Moxley onto the steps. The referee then begins the count, reaching six when both men return to the ring. Moxley then catches Strong in the corner, but the fight goes back and forth until Strong takes Moxley to the mat with a superplex for a two count. Both men then fight back to their feet, with Strong dodging a Paradigm Shift for a tiger driver. Moxley then stops another Stronghold attempt with five minutes remaining and drops Strong twice for a pair of near falls. Moxley then cinches in a modified sleeper hold, but Strong manages to roll toward the ropes to force a break. Strong then takes Moxley down for a two count before finally cinching in the Stronghold. Moxley is struggling here as he crawls toward the ropes.
