Roman Reigns Should Have Faced Adam Pearce At WWE Royal Rumble Says Konnan

By | January 20, 2021

The current storyline featuring Roman Reigns and Adam Pearce went through quite a few changes, ahead of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Pearce was going to challenge Reigns for his WWE Universal title at the event. However, Pearce was replaced by Kevin Owens after Pearce outsmarted Reigns by declaring he was physically unfit to compete.

Pro wrestling legend Konnan recently spoke on the UnSKripted podcast, where he discussed Roman Reigns’ current storyline with Adam Pearce. Konnan said that Pearce would have been a fresh opponent for Roman Reigns, making him the better choice instead of facing Kevin Owens once again.

Konnan also suggested how WWE could have incorporated Owens into the storyline, noting that Owens would form a tag team with Pearce to face Reigns and Jey Uso.

Konnan ended it by saying he is less invested in the match as it is very likely Kevin Owens will not win at the Royal Rumble.

“I was actually looking forward to him [Roman Reigns] being in there with Adam Pearce because I thought it would be a really good match, people would really be into Adam Pearce as the guy underneath who hasn’t wrestled in six years. Then maybe something happens with Roman and they start beating him up and maybe open him up or something and then Kevin Owens comes out and helps him and now we have a tag team match or something. I did kind of like the idea where Pearce signed the Last Man Standing thing and then he faked an injury and said ‘oh Kevin Owens is gonna fight you’. I’d rather have had Pearce fight Roman and have Kevin Owens come out and then maybe have a tag team match because I don’t think Kevin Owens is going to beat Roman for the title so that already takes me a little bit out of the match,”

We will have to see how the storyline will progress on the upcoming episode of Friday Night Smackdown.
