WWE Didn’t Think Asuka Was Physically Ready For Royal Rumble Return

By | February 1, 2022

WWE may have brought in a lot of ex-performers for the Women’s Royal Rumble. That doesn’t mean the company was able to meet fan expectation. Both Asuka and Kairi Sane did not appear at the rumble event despite WWE planning for them to show up.

According to Fightful Select, WWE did think of bringing in the two for the women’s Royal Rumble match, but dropped the names going forward because they felt one wasn’t physically fit while the other was difficult to bring in at the time of the rumble.

“Regarding several of the names discussed, we’re told that Asuka and Kairi Sane’s names were brought up, but WWE didn’t feel Asuka was physically ready, and that it was easier to bring in other talent than Kairi Sane.”

Asuka was heavily rumored to be in the Women’s Royal Rumble match this year. The Japanese star has been missing from WWE television since July 2021 due to an injury. Sane, on the other hand, had her last match in 2020.

It could be argued that the 2022 Royal Rumble didn’t live up to the hype and expectations. WWE had a hard time filling the rumble spots for the women’s match. Let’s see what they do next to entice fans.
