The Chase DeLauter hype before the season for the Cleveland Guardians was at a pretty solid level.
It has quickly risen through the roof. DeLauter has started his career in a way almost no one ever has.
DeLauter has now played three regular season games after Saturday night’s Cleveland win. He has hit four home runs.
Only one player in the history of baseball had ever done that before in MLB: Trevor Story for the Rockies in 2016.
That makes DeLauter the second.
He homered in the top of the 10th inning in Seattle on Saturday night, a key two-run blast in what ended up a one-run win.

Also, while that video’s view is beautiful, the standard broadcast view is telling, too.
The pitch DeLauter hit for a home run, and the way in which he hit it, had some absurdity to it, too.

Story ended up hitting six home runs in his first four MLB regular season games, so DeLauter still has some work to do.
He’ll have a showcase on Sunday to try and do so. The Guardians play the Mariners on Sunday Night Baseball. A whole nation of baseball fans will get to see what all the hype is about.
