The Philadelphia Phillies have one of the most fun sluggers in all of Major League Baseball in Kyle Schwarber. He’s the league-leader in home runs this season, and is one of the more exciting players to watch every game.
He’s chasing a lot of different footnotes in MLB history, and on Friday night, he set a new personal record that has some wild history associated with it.
As Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation notes, Schwarber hit three singles during Friday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox, which tied a personal record he last set in the second game of his MLB career back in 2015.
Kyle Schwarber breaks personal record set in 2nd career MLB game
“Kyle Schwarber has singled three times in a game for the first time since June 17, 2015,” Lugardo shared on Twitter/x.
Not long after sharing this post, Schwarber hit his fourth single of the game, finishing his Friday night going 4-for-5 with four singles and two runs scored.
In his long MLB career, the only other time Schwarber reached three singles in a game was back in 2015 on June 17, which just so happens to be the second game of his entire MLB career, back when he played for the Chicago Cubs.
Schwaber went 4-for-5 with three singles and a triple with two RBIs and three runs scored. He made his MLB debut the night prior, going 0-1 with a strikeout.

His first start and first full game of his big league career were the only other instances of hitting three singles in a game. Not only did he tie that record on Friday, but he hit another single to break that personal history.
Schwarber has played in 12 seasons in the big leagues and has appeared in 1,351 games. He has 1,106 hits, 184 of which are doubles, 15 of which are triples, and 363 of which are home runs.
Hitting four singles in one game is a noteworthy accomplishment, but for Schwarber, a three-true-outcomes slugger (strikeouts, walks, and homers), this is some wild personal history to make.
Schwarber hit four singles in one game for the first time in his MLB career, and even his three singles in a game tied a personal record he set in his second-ever MLB game 11 years ago.
