The New Orleans Saints have spent the past few seasons trying to figure out their future at the running back position.
Alvin Kamara is still in town, but his days are numbered. In the end, though, the Saints aren’t going to turn to an in-house option.
Instead, they signed Travis Etienne to a big deal from the Jaguars in free agency to become the new RB1.
This season, Kamara will complement him.
And in a new 53-man roster projection from ESPN, one of the previously high-hope young RBs is going to get cut.
Kendre Miller doesn’t make the team in the list put together by ESPN.
“Miller’s career has been hampered by injuries, and he’ll be nine months out from an ACL tear when training camp begins,” ESPN’s Katherine Terrell wrote. “Miller likely needs to have the best camp of his career to make the roster after playing only half a season in each of his three years with the Saints.”

The roster projection has the two obvious RB choices, Kamara and Etienne, but actually keeps two additional rushers: Devin Neal and Audric Estime.
Miller was a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of TCU, and he was young for his class, having just turned 24 on June 11.
He has played eight, six and seven games in his three NFL seasons.
In total, he has run 127 times for 497 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 3.9 yards per carry. He also has 20 career catches for 180 yards.
Miller hasn’t been healthy enough, or good enough when healthy, to make the Saints keep him. It’ll be a tough call to let him hang around New Orleans for another year, or not.
